How to Find Your "Style"

If you are like me, a teenage girl who enjoys fashion, then at some point in time you have wondered what your "style" was.  As I've thought about this topic more, I developed a few ways of how one could determine their "style".

1.   Observe your lifestyle (Tennies vs. Heels)

Are you one to wear "active-wear" daily or one to dress up no matter what?  Depending on your everyday to-do list, you probably either lean more towards the comfy, but practical side or the not so comfy, but cute side.  Personally, even though I enjoy to be comfy, I am not a fan of wearing leggings and yoga pants out of the house.  I am all for looking cute, but being comfortable too!  So, I have enjoyed searching for cute, but comfortable outfits that I can wear daily.  P.S. French braids are always a good idea;) Some days though, you just have to wear those heels.

2.   Show off your personality

By wearing brighter colors, more patterns or fun prints, one can show off their fun spirit.  If you are someone who is more adventurous and sporty, you can wear a hat or pair of running shoes.  Those who wear flip flops and a pony tail in their hair tend to be more laid back.  Have fun experimenting with different outfits that show off your personality!

3.   Be Authentic

Stay true to yourself; as long as you feel comfortable and confident in what you're wearing, it will show, and you will look your best.  After obsessing over what my "style" was for years, I have finally realized that my "style" is actually whatever I personally think is cute, comfortable and shows my personality.  There's no name for my style, but there are certain trends that I lean toward such as vintage/retro, hipster, floral prints and pastel colors.  I've learned how much of a waste of time it is buying clothes to fit in or make yourself feel good.  Your identity is found in who you are, not what you wear.  As children of God and daughters of the King, we find our identity in Christ and the new creation He has made us to be!

"Do not let your adorning be external- the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing your wear- but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the perishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious." 1 Peter 3:3-4
